Since 2013, Alpha-PVP has been being used recreationally as it is an intoxicant drug. It’s the parallel of methylenedioxypyrovalerone also known as MDPV. Initially, this was produced in a crystal form which can be swallowed, smoked, inhaled or inoculated in the 1960s. As it’s norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor so its effects last for up to three to five hours.
Alpha-PVP is an associate of the cathinone and pyrovalerone classes so its strong stimulating effects can also boost physical activity. Mental state and an elated body high are also accompanied by other side effects. The physical effects of this drug include vibrating vision, abnormal heartbeat, appetite suppression, increased blood pressure and heart rate, dry mouth, dehydration, headaches, muscle spasms and difficulty urinating etc.
Many patients have reported that its effect is kind of subtle at first and then it gradually increases. Some patients have also mistakenly taken more dose than prescribed for quick results but unfortunately, that can have bad results. This potent drug is also capable of triggering temporary psychosis, but this occurs only if it’s taken in extremely high dosage. Because of high doses, many deaths have also been reported.
